Stepping off

I've been avoiding this for just about as long as one can. Which I suppose is where the title came from. Moving away from that edge. The place that allows us to teeter on the line between the safe, what we know world and that dream that keeps us going but takes us outside of the comfort zone. This is where I am.

The Shawshank Redemption is one of the greatest movies. As with all great movies there is a line that grabs hold in a very simple, subtle way and yet stays with you forever. It defines most moments in our lives; when we sit back and "debate" with ourselves as to what we should do versus what we want to do versus , {gee} what someone else thinks we should do. That moment when fear faces our individual spirits head-on; pulls at our heart strings, tugs at our souls and gives us one final choice: "You can get busy living or you can get busy dying". How obvious is that? Yet how many times has that been placed in the back of the drawer, and we just go on with existing?

Silly as it sounds, while I have been an artist for @ 28 years, I have tried to be anonymous. Which, when you are working towards being a working, full time artist, it tends to be helpful in facilitating that goal if people actually know you exist; and who you are. This is me, stepping off the edge.

Ok, "Stepping Off" sounds like what I should be doing...I happen to believe in this Artist and what she stands for... We tend to judge, not just others, but ourselves, and for this, I'm truely heart broken! As an artist, as a faithful wife, loving friend, honest worker, a valuable product of society (at least I hope I am) I tend to look for strength in places that I would've never imagined... this place is my friend, my fellow artist, my teacher, my sister and I want you to know how much I admire your intelligence, your heart, your zest for life, your love of nature and your soul! NEVER DOUBT, NEVER THINK BACK... GO FORWARD WITH YOUR DREAMS... I'll BE THERE... right next to you!
