Independence Day

I woke up with every intention of getting the to-do list done today. There are weeds to be pulled and flowers to be planted. I still have to take pictures of the prizes for the give-away. Then there was the daily grind duties: laundry, dishwasher,. etc. I'm not quite sure what happened- but when I stepped outside into the most beautiful of days- my father's words came ringing in my ears- "Everyday is your day. Do what you need to, do what you have to, or do what you want to. But the day is yours to chose."

So I chose to run away from home instead! My son and I jumped in the car and started at the driveway. "Flip the coin" I said. Heads- left, Tail- right. And so started our journey into the day. Every intersection- another coin toss. No definite direction- no definite goal - and NO schedule. The day was ours. And what a glorious day it wound up being. That photo is from the grand finale of the day- after 11 hours of adventure- we found ourselves under the most glorious fireworks. (The adventure itself will have to wait for another post- as there are approximately 250 photos to comb through- I told you guys we were taking pictures of everything, right?)

I do have one more photo to share tonight- on this the day of Independence. But, first- I would like to remind everyone that you have until midnight to leave a message on the Tea-party toast to be included in the drawing (2 actually) for the give aways! Woo hoo- at midnight I will be pulling the names (actually- my son will be doing the honors- just to keep it honest! lol) and I will be announcing the winners tomorrow. Yipee!!

OK- now back to the photo. You know how I tend to find hearts in the most unusual places, right? On rocks, trees, in the ground itself - well this one actually caught me by surprise- because in all of the commotion of the fireworks, through all the oohs and ahhs- one tends to focus on the pretty lights and flashes rather than anything else. So when I started to pull a photo or two for this post - I just knew I had to share this one. It is not a great photo where the fireworks are concerned- a little over exposed on my part (still working the bugs out on the camera thingy)- But there is definitely something quite magical about it - if you look. There it is- masquerading as a puff of smoke. Just goes to prove- love IS everywhere, and what you see depends on what your looking for.

A Safe and blissful weekend to all.

Yummy! In Houston's fireworks display they did It's a Beautiful World and sent giant red hearts into the sky. I like these too, very much.

I also like the way you did your day. I am going to try that very soon. Hugs, Diana
